The Yoga of Letting Go

May 26, 1 to 3:30pm at
Breathe Los Gatos

This workshop is an exploration into the forms of attachment and grasping, obsession and addiction as they may present themselves in our lives.  We will use some investigative tools to discover how these attributes manifest themselves.  Self awareness is a vital key to addressing the negative impacts.  We will do some exercises that will enlighten us.   Using the wisdom of yoga philosophy we will find ways to lessen the grasp of troublesome negative behavior.  We will find balance between doing the footwork and letting go, between effort and ease.  Gaining tools in this workshop you will be better able to identify and address situations that are born of obsession, attachment, grasping or addiction and follow a path to proper self knowledge and personal growth.

Lecture and Discussion Series

Convergent Paths -
Recovery and Yoga

There are three distinct workshops / presentations on the overlapping of the paths of Recovery and Yoga, the convergence of their philosophies and ways to blend the two into a wholesome practice of self re-discovery. An hour of all levels hatha yoga may be included.

Yoga of Recovery(tm)

Yoga of Recovery(tm) speaker series is specifically designed to help those who suffer from addictions or are in relationship with someone who suffers from addictions.

The series will cover the 6 Tenets of Yoga of Recovery(tm) and the blending of Yogic, Ayurvedic and 12 Step philosophies to further recovery efforts.  The conclusion of the class will provide the attendee with specific tools and resources to enhance recovery on all levels - emotional, spiritual, and physical.  Come and expand your tool kit with these simple additions.

This course is appropriate for people in all paths of recovery, people who work with the recovering and yoga practitioners and teachers alike.

Please contact me to discuss these or other presentations for your studio, group or retreat.

Classes held in recovery houses and other locations are specific to them and their needs.  Please contact me directly if your organization or facility would like to schedule classes.

Yoga is an incredibly potent method to relax the body and calm the mind. Techniques learned in a yoga class can benefit the student in all stages of recovery.  Effective breathing can lead to conscious good choices, awareness of the body can lead to better control of feelings and responses.  Together the breath and body awareness contribute to relaxation and, ultimately, to stress reduction and meditation.
